The Backyardigans: Mission to Mars Episode Premieres October 9 / DVD Available Oct. 10

Everything is ‘boinga’ when nine-time Grammy award-winning recording artist Alicia Keys joins Nick Jr.’s five backyard pals on an epic musical adventure through outer space. Keys guest stars as the animated Mommy Martian along with her niece, Shakyra Lipscomb, who plays baby Martian Boinga, in a new special episode of The Backyardigans entitled, “Mission to Mars,” premiering Columbus Day, Monday, October 9 at 10:30 a.m. (ET/PT). In addition to voicing the bright green extraterrestrial, Keys sings an original song entitled, “Almost Everything is Boinga Here.” The musical genre of the episode is Kenyan High Life.

Like all Backyardigans, "Mission to Mars" is a totally unique episode with exciting animation, high-quality music and corresponding animated choreography. Unlike other episodes, though, the Backyardigans meet two exciting new characters in "Mission to Mars." This fun new episode featuring Mommy Martian and Boinga will be available October 10th on DVD, along with three other Backyardigans episodes.

Also available from The Backyardigans is the DVD entitled It's Great to Be a Ghost, which is a great Halloween DVD for preschoolers. The featured Halloween episodes are the jazz-themed "It's Great to be a Ghost" and "Monster Detective," with a '60s rock theme.
