Sesame Street Season 39
Wednesday July 23, 2008
It's time for a new season of Sesame Street, and once again, our friends over at Sesame Workshop have been hard at work coming up with new and better ways to help prepare children for school. Each new season of Sesame Street brings a new area of focus along with funny parodies (note the photo of "Pre-School Musical" -- Ha Ha!) and exciting characters. Here's a rundown of what's new for season 39 (premiering August 11,2008 on PBS KIDS):
- Sesame Street is now available in hi-definition.
- Sesame Street will welcome its first Indian-American cast member, Leela.
- A new curriculum focus on mathematics literacy will help kids get a head start in math. Responding to research showing that a lack of literacy skills can be a barrier for kids' ability to explain their mathematical thinking, new Sesame Street content will focus on helping kids become familiar with mathematical terms and expressions.
- The Sesame Workshop website already features really great learning games for preschoolers, but they are kicking it up a notch with a re-designed website that includes hundreds of games and features live action characters.
