Over the weekend, we attended a launch party for the new DVD Twinkle Toes from Skechers. The animated movie follows young Grace "Twinkle Toes" Hastings as she overcomes her stage fright and lets her love of dance and strength of character take over. The movie stems from the colorful line of "Twinkle Toes" shoes from Skechers, and the story seeks to inspire every girl to find the "sparkle" within.
In keeping with the dance theme of the movie, the launch party was held at a local mall, where performers from Power House of Dance put on a show and even taught kids in the audience a few moves as well. Pictured below, you can see the crowd of kids learning the moves to the song "Get the Future Started" from the Twinkle Toes movie soundtrack. In addition to learning the dance, the kids at the mall got to add a little bling to some tote bags and color Twinkle Toes pictures.
Of course, since this all originates from Skechers' "Twinkle Toes" shoe line, there was also a display table featuring Twinkle Toes shoes and accessories. The line is characterized by bright colors, beautiful/fun patterns and bling, lots and lots of bling. In addition, many Twinkle Toes products light up and sparkle. Basically, the stuff is straight out of little girls' dreams. Pictured here, you can see a few of the glitzy shoe styles. In addition to those skates and tennis shoes, there are many other bedazzled shoes, some which light up, and some which have a spinner on the bottom of the front part of the shoe, so girls can stand tippy toe and spin like a ballerina.
I know, right? Bella Ballerina sparkly tennis shoes have just ground previous connotations of girliness to sparkle dust. But I have visions of fun in my mind as I picture girls spinning their hearts out on the playground. The shoes do inspire physical activity as well as fashion. Are they comfortable to walk in? Do they hold up? These are questions for which I have no answer, but if your daughter has some of these shoes, feel free to comment below and let us know.
Now, if you're thinking that this whole DVD thing is one effective marketing campaign, well, you're right. True, the DVD is well done and the animation surpasses expectations for a branded movie, but it also pretty much guarantees a place for Twinkles Toes products in the mind and heart of every young girl who watches it. Twinkle Toes already had a loyal following of young girls hooked on the fancy shoes, and now they have moved to expand the base and further invest kids with music and a movie centered on the Twinkle Toes brand.
If your child loves Twinkle Toes and wants to watch the movie, you can check out our Twinkle Toes movie review to find out more about it, and watching this movie presents a great opportunity to teach your little girl critical thinking and analytical skills by discussing the purpose of advertising. Also, if you're in the mood to get creative, you and your daughter can bedazzle some unique shoes of your own, just like Grace does in the movie.
