Pictured above in the front row: Robert Capron voices "Bob," Charlie Tahan voices "Victor," and Atticus Shaffer voices "Edgar 'E' Gore" in the movie Frankenweenie. We had a chance to sit down with these three talented actors at the Frankenweenie premiere in L.A., and they were awesome. These boys have accomplished so much at such a young age, and they are already so practiced at speaking to a crowd and answering interview questions. It was fun to see what answers they would come up with next. I thought it would be fun to do a profile of each of them, so this is part 1 of 3, and we'll start with Charlie Tahan.
You might know him from: Charlie St. Cloud, I Am Legend
Favorite Tim Burton Film: The Nightmare Before Christmas, and he also mentioned Pee-wee's Big Adventure
Pets: Samantha the dog is Charlie's only pet now, but in the past he has had rabbits, a hamster and lizards.
What is your favorite thing about playing "Victor"?
Victor is loosely based on Tim's childhood. He's been one of my favorite directors, so I was honored to be able to sort of play him.
What is it like doing voice-over acting?
This is my first voice over thing ever. So, I thought it was going to be a lot harder, especially after I found out that I wasn't going to be with the other cast, to like read with them.
For me, I think it was a little bit easier, because half my scenes are with me and Sparky. I have a dog at home, so I kind of just imagined that my dog was there. But, it's pretty easy mostly just because you don't have worry about blocking, or where to stand, or hair and makeup, so you can just focus all your energy into your voice. So, it's a little bit easier.
What are your goals for the future?
I don't have any like actual like goals, because if it doesn't happen, I'll be more sad. [LAUGHS] And when I go on auditions, I don't like to like think about it that much. I forget about it, seriously.
