I'm rather intrigued by this upcoming Christmas special for preschoolers: Peter Rabbit's Christmas Tale is scheduled to air on Nickelodeon Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. (ET/PT). The CG animated story is described in the release from Nickelodeon as "a fresh re-imagining of the classic Beatrix Potter books," which entertains and educates preschoolers through high-stakes adventures and comedic characters. The educational goals of the show include helping preschoolers learn problem-solving and interpersonal skills, self-efficacy, resilience, positive re-framing and an interest in and respect for nature.
The Nickelodeon website currently offers parents and preschoolers a sneak peek of the holiday special, plus Peter Rabbit coloring pages, stickers and mazes. On Monday, Dec. 3, nickjr.com will launch "Presents from Peter," where users will be able to go online every day to unlock a new special gift from Peter Rabbit such as holiday ornaments, holiday cards, activity packs and more.
I'll have more info on this promising new Christmas special soon, but presently, I'm suddenly in the mood to go and read Peter Rabbit with my daughter!
