"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" Poll for Parents

Like the book, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” the movie will be darker than the previous three in the Harry Potter series. Still, many parents were hoping producers could find a way to bring the story to life on the big screen without making it too scary for the series’ young followers. In the end, the movie earns a PG-13 rating for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images.

From the trailers and movie posters, it is obvious that Harry and the gang have grown up. What remains to be seen, is if the grown-up rating will hurt the film by excluding younger audiences. Perhaps the popularity of Harry Potter has extended enough into the teen and adult crowds so as not to make a difference to the bottom line. Many fans claim the book series has moved beyond younger children anyway, and that the PG-13 rating is necessary to render a true account of the darkly unfolding events in Harry’s life and training in wizardry. Either way, the movie’s level of success will likely have a strong determination on the rating of future Potter films.
