Kids and Family Movies Released in 2015

Super heroes, dinosaurs, mysteries and more! 2015 promises to be a busy year at the box office, and kids and families will have no shortage of weekend movie nights. Here is a list of the new kids and family that arrived in movie theaters during 2015. Most of the movies included are rated G or PG, but PG-13 "family" movies have become a major genre, so I also include those movies that are aimed at and marketed to families and kids (superhero movies, adventures movies and such). 

January 2015

  • PADDINGTON (January 16, PG): Based on the beloved fictional character from children’s literature created by Michael Bond in 1958.

February 2015

  • SPONGEBOB: SPONGE OUT OF WATER (February 6): Based on the popular SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon.
  • JUPITER ASCENDING (February 6): This sci-fi adventure film was pushed from 2014 and will finally land in theaters this year.

March 2015

  • CINDERELLA (March 15): A live-action Disney version of the classic fairy tale story.
  • THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT (March 20): Based on the bestselling novel series.

April 2015

  • UNDERDOGS (April 10): The players of a foosball table are magically brought to life in this animated film.

September 2015

  • HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 (September 25)

October 2015

  • THE JUNGLE BOOK (October 9): A live-action version of the classic Disney cartoon.

November 2015

  • PEANUTS (November 6)
  • THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY, PART 2 (November 20)

December 2015

  • STAR WARS: EPISODE VII - THE FORCE AWAKENS (December 18)

*Some movies listed on this calendar may be rated PG-13. I list all movies that are categorized as family or children's movies. So that parents can be aware, I also list movies that are marketed to kids and that kids will probably be wanting to see (like super hero movies and adventure films).
