The title Puss in Boots, prior to the notoriously chivalrous and smooth-talking cat in the Shrek movies, was most known as a fairy tale. In the famous story, Puss in Boots is a crafty cat who saves himself and his master through cunning manipulation and trickery. Kids will enjoy reading the tale and finding out just where the legendary name came from. You can find the story, along with kid-friendly illustrations, on this Children's Stories website.
For an educational activity, after kids read the original story and watch the new movie, help them compare and contrast the stories of the original Puss in Boots and the movie version.
