Now, out to save their childhood home, only The Three Stooges could become embroiled in an oddball murder plot…while stumbling into starring roles in a phenomenally successful TV reality show.
The Three Stooges - Fun Facts
The Three Stooges are the epitome of physical humor. They give meaning to the term "slapstick comedy," and they became so synonymous with idiocy that their names are still used today as idioms for people who are, not so bright shall we say.
The hairbrained trio started as part of a vaudeville act in 1925. They hit the big screen in 1930, according to the production notes for the movie, "Over a twenty-five year span at Columbia Pictures (1934-1959), The Three Stooges poked and slapped their way through 190 original two-reel comedies."
In the new movie, the Stooges look, sound and talk like the originals. But, the storyline for the movie is original. Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos play the famous threesome in the contemporary reintroduction of the characters. Co-director Peter Farrelly says, "Moe is the leader. He comes up with the ideas. Curly is the big funny guy that makes the other two laugh. Larry is a blend between Moe and Curly. Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, and Chris Diamantopoulos synched right up with the original Stooge characters."
