Bottom Line: The Bugs Bunny Movie contains classic animated Looney Tunes shorts blended with new sequences. The shorts contain silly squabbles between characters and are full of the cartoon violence that was never a big deal when we parents were kids, but is much different from the cartoons of today.

The Looney, Looney, Looney Bugs Bunny Movie - Overview

The Looney, Looney, Looney Bugs Bunny Movie is a compilation of classic Looney Tunes shorts produced by legendary animator, Friz Freleng. The shorts are delivered in three parts and are blended with new sequences:

  • Part 1: See Bugs Bunny in his classic rivalry with Yosemite Sam, maddening the Rootin'est, Tootin'est Cowboy in the West with his hilarious antics as Yosemite tries to bring Bugs to "hell" to fulfill his deal with the devil. (I know, that would NEVER happen in a cartoon for kids made today, right?)
  • Part 2: Playing on the mob boss theme, Bugs plays a police detective who annoys mobsters Rocky and Mugsy. Can he save Daffy and Tweetie from these bad guys?
  • [
  • Part 3: Bugs Bunny presents The Oswald Awards in a funny satire on Hollywood and the Oscars.

The Looney, Looney, Looney Bugs Bunny Movie - Guide Review

It's been a long time since I sat down and just watched the Looney Tunes. As a kid, I enjoyed the cartoons, and I thought absolutely nothing about all of the cartoon violence and mild rude language. Watching The Looney, Looney, Looney Bugs Bunny Movie today, I laughed out loud at a couple of the shorts and reveled in the memories, but I didn't let my kids watch them.

This DVD contains some of the more risque Looney Tunes shorts. I mean, Yosemite does go to hell and promise Satan he will bring back Bugs to roast it out in his place. In outdoing his nemesis, Bugs often tells Sam his classic line, "Eh, shut up!" In another short, Mugsy, Rocky and the gang smoke cigars and shoot at people all over the place. The characters also express how they "hate" each other and refer to women as "broads."

I will let my kids watch this movie someday (when they get out of Kindergarten at least), and show them how hilarious cartoons used to be, with the physical comedy and all. The crux of that comedy being wise cracks and characters pounding each other and blowing each other up -- all with no consequences whatsoever. Even though I am not going to share this movie with my kids just yet, remembering all of that madcap mayhem put me in a good mood for the day.
