A WowieBOZowee Christmas - Overview

You can bring the spirit of Christmas into your home no matter what time of year it is with Exclaim Entertainment's A WowieBOZowee Christmas DVD. The DVD series BOZ The Green Bear Next Door uses CG animation and loveable characters to help children discover the wonders of God's world. In A WowieBOZowee Christmas, Boz and his next door friends, the Baxter family, help viewing children learn about the true meaning of Christmas as they share their Christmastime experiences and traditions.

From snowmen and snowball fights to hot chocolate and ice skating, Boz and the Baxter children know how to celebrate the holiday season. But more than anything else, they know how to remember and even how to experience the real reason why the season is so special. As they share their family Christmas celebration, Boz and the Baxters help children understand that gift giving is a personal and heart-felt expression of love - a small token to help us remember Jesus, God's greatest gift to the world.

A WowieBOZowee Christmas - Guide Review

For any Christian child who watches A WowieBOZowee Christmas, a big green bear may become as much a part of the holiday season as candy canes or the Christmas tree. This Christmas story will delight children as they experience the magic of the season and learn from real world examples about how the true spirit of Christmas applies to us today.

Even my one critique of the DVD is actually a compliment. The CG animation is mediocre, but when I have to pit small productions up against the well-funded blockbuster animated movies we are used to seeing in theaters now days, mediocre is actually quite an achievement, and the animation in A WowieBOZowee Christmas is actually much better than I would have expected.

Whatever small lack the DVD does have in presentation, though, it is more than made up for by the characters and the storyline. I love the scenes of winter fun, the integrated Christmas carols, and the presentation of the nativity scene, but I was most surprised and excited by the fact that the DVD teaches kids about the true spirit of giving.

At this age, preschoolers generally choose gifts for others based on their own tastes (like my daughter, who wants everyone in the family to receive something in pink). The characters in the movie point out that one should think about the person receiving the gift and choose something that will be special to that person. Boz even sings a song about the concept, and the Baxter children apply this understanding as they choose gifts for their family members.

A WowieBOZowee Christmas may not sound like the name of a spiritual Christmas DVD, but I was pleased with the spirit it brought into my home. Sometimes it seems hard to find ways to make Christ, instead of Santa, the center of Christmas, so a DVD like this one is a blessing for both parents and children.
