Shrek the Halls - Summary
It's Christmastime, and Donkey is busy annoying Shrek with his exuberant Christmas spirit. Ogres, of course, don't do Christmas -- at least they don't until Shrek realizes that Fiona loves Christmas. Suddenly, Shrek is in need of Christmas 101.
After reading up on the holiday, Shrek begins preparations for the perfect family Christmas. Christmas Eve turns out to be just what he had hoped for, until Donkey and friends crash Shrek's quite family party and turn the place into Christmas chaos. With his storybook vision in shambles, Shrek angrily stamps out everyone's Christmas spirit. Fiona tries to explain to Shrek about the true meaning of Christmas, but will her words sink into that thick ogre skull?
Shrek the Halls - Guide Review for Parents
Shrek the Halls was a fun little TV special that aired during the Christmas season in 2007. Short but sweet, the show features all of your favorite Shrek characters just they way you remember them from the movies. Kids and adults alike will get a kick out of Shrek's holiday catastrophe and the lessons he learns about the meaning of family and Christmas.
Shrek the Halls is very similar to the movies in terms of content and characters. Expect the usual with Shrek's ogrely manners -- lots of burping and snide comments. Other holiday humor includes a black lacy stocking for Pinocchio and Gingy throwing up Hershey Kisses. Overall, the show has a good message buried in the humor and reminds us that Christmas may not proceed in storybook fashion, but the important thing is that everyone celebrates together.
