Single parents Frank (Dennis Quaid) and Helen (Rene Russo), who had been high school sweet hearts, re-kindle the flame after a chance meeting. After spontaneously getting married, they each make the happy announcement to their children - Helen to her 10 and Frank to his 8. The 18 children aren't as happy about the new arrangement, though, and they embark on a plan to sabotage the marriage. The kids come together in order to tear the family apart, and Frank and Helen have to decide if being together is worth the effort.
