Overview - Alvin and the Chipmunks: Trick or Treason

The mischievous adventures of Alvin and the Chipmunks bring back fond memories for many parents, and now their children can enjoy the cartoons too. The Chipmunks are: Alvin, the chief mischief-maker, and his brothers brainy Simon and Timid Theodore. They live together with their guardian, Dave, who is often at work or otherwise out, leaving the boys alone to come up with all sorts of things to do.

The Trick or Treason DVD contains the following Halloween themed and "scary" episodes:
  • "Trick or Treason": Alvin wants to be accepted into the Monster Club, but the club members seem to think its cool to be cruel. Theodore's friendship with Michael, a misunderstood outcast the other kids call Pumpkinhead, shows Alvin that being a true friend is really a lot more cool than trying to be a popular Monster! Includes the Chipmunk's rendition of the hit song "Monster Mash."
  • "Babysitter Fright Night": Dave hires a babysitter who turns out to be the boys' worst nightmare, but they'll show her!
  • "Theodore's Life as a Dog": Simon and Theodore have had enough of Alvin's antics. They decide to teach him a lesson.
  • "Nightmare on Seville Street": The boys see a scary movie that keeps them up all night.
  • "No Chipmunk is an Island": Alvin, Simon and Theodore each want their own room, but as nighttime drags on, they see the benefit of having each other near.

Guide Review - Alvin and the Chipmunks: Trick or Treason

I had forgotten how much trouble those cute little chipmunks really get into! These episodes are a lot of fun, and very appropriate for the Halloween time of year. The stories are clever, but it has always been the characters that have made the Chipmunks cartoon a classic.

Parents should know that Alvin and the Chipmunks are sometimes disobedient and get into trouble. In the end, though, they always learn a good lesson. The "Trick or Treason" episode may be slightly scary or disturbing for very young children due to moments of peril and scenes with kids taunting a young boy.
