Baby Learns Numbers and Animals with Mr. Twiddles - Overview
Developed for kids ages six months to six years old, Baby Learns Numbers and Animals aims to help children learn numbers and counting up to the number 10. The DVD is mostly computer animated with some live action footage.
The program follows a storyline that introduces children to counting and numbers as they help a character named Mr. Twiddles find his lost pet lamb. Mr. Twiddles searches the globe far and wide, talking to animals in different numbers as he travels. He also plays mathematical games, and children at home can play along.
Baby Learns Numbers and Animals with Mr. Twiddles - Guide Review
Baby Learns Numbers and Counting does teach kids about numbers and counting. The numbers are shown in large print, and the pace is adequately slow for kids to absorb the information.
The characters in the DVD were obviously created using amateur computer graphics, so they are not very expressive and give the DVD a home-made feel. The live action footage of animals will be interesting to children, but the computerized parts detract from the quality of the overall production.
The simple math concepts, such as numbers, counting, and equality, are introduced appropriately and effectively for the age group in a way that surpasses other DVDs with similar curricular goals; however, the production quality is lacking and some parts of the DVD seem out of place. Likely, the DVD will still keep kids attention, though, and they will like the animals and learning about numbers.
