Whether you have an occasion like a birthday to celebrate or not, movie parties are a fun, cheap way for kids to get together. Hannah Montana is so popular among kids, and now that her big movie is available on DVD, what better reason to have a party? Having friends over for movie night works really well for kids and tweens, because your kids are safe at home, you know exactly what they're doing, and it feels like a slumber party even if friends don't actually stay the night. Here are some ideas for games and activities to make your Hannah Montana the Movie party a blast:

Dress-Up or Dress-Down

  • Hollywood Beauty or Small Town Girl?: Ask guests to come dressed like Miley or Hannah. Kids can get glamorous like Hannah, or just throw on some jeans and a cowboy hat.
  • Pajama Party: If you'd rather make the party more comfortable and like a sleepover, make it a pajama party. Don't forget to tell everyone to bring their favorite blanket and pillow as well.

Hannah Montana the Movie - Activities and Games

  • Hannah Montana the Movie Quiz: Who is the biggest (or at least most observant) Hannah Montana fan? Find out after the movie with these fun quiz questions provided by Disney. If you want to find a reward for the winner, Hannah Montana trinkets are available at most party stores; or, you can never go wrong with candy!
  • "Hoedown Throwdown" Dance Off: If you have the Blu-ray version of the movie, kids can learn the steps to the "Hoedown Throwdown" on the dance-along bonus feature. Otherwise, just find that scene in the movie and get ready to rewind a few times. Once everyone has it down, have a dance contest and give out silly rewards for who can do the dance the "fastest" or "backwards."
  • Hollywood Salon: Girls love to get made up, so break out the nail polish, lip gloss, and hair accessories. If you have a pedicure tub, get that out too, and let the girls have fun doing hair and nails for a while. Just make sure to cover the floors.

Hannah Montana the Movie - Party Food & Decorations

Pizza Night and/or a Snack Bar: No movie night is really complete without pizza, right? You can break out the dinner either before or during the movie, and then have the popcorn and M&Ms ready. I know we're not the only ones who can't eat popcorn without throwing a handful of M&Ms in the bowl. We've converted many who hadn't heard of it before, though. Trust me, they taste GREAT together. Also, you can buy "movie candy" at the store and make a mini movie snack bar for kids to choose from. If you want to put a cap on the junk food consumption, you can hand out fake money or tickets that kids can use to "buy" the snacks they want from the handy in-house snack counter.

Decorations: You don't really need to decorate to have a movie party, but if it is also a birthday party, combining Hannah Montana decorations from the store with a barn theme would be perfect. Depending on the season, you may be able to find some hay stacks to stack around the room. Go for accessories like rope, bandannas, and cowboy hats and boots. And as I always say, cover the floor in black painter's plastic (found at any home improvement store) to add ambiance and prevent a mess.
