Monster Buster Club - Guide Review
According to Disney, the budget for the first season (airing in 2008) of Monster Buster Club was $21 million, and the animation reflects money well spent. Bright and colorful, the characters and backgrounds are like eye candy for kids. Even the alien monsters end up looking kind of cute. There is nothing as extraordinary about the episode stories, but they are fun for kids, and kids will relate to the upbeat characters as well.
Because the show is about busting aliens, various weapons are used, and the main characters often get in fights involving punching, kicking, throwing things and the like in their efforts to defeat the enemies. The weapons used are generally techno gadgets that shoot laser beams, and obviously no blood or gore is ever shown (unless you count slime!).
The series is aimed at school-aged kids, so related topics such as vying for popularity, contending with bullies, and dealing with snotty popular kids come up. The characters generally have a positive attitude in these situations, and when they don't, a lesson is usually learned. While the show is more focused on comedy and action than anything educational or moral, the main characters are well-developed, and the interplay among their different personalities often highlights the importance of respecting others and working as a team.
