"Pet Alien" Overview
Created by Mike Young Productions, Pet Alien amuses children with computer animated alien characters. The show depicts the tumultuous life of 13-year old Tommy, a regular kind of guy who loves watching TV and playing video games. His average life is turned upside down when five aliens Dingo, Gumpers, Flip, Swanky, and Scruffy - decide to take up residence with him in his lighthouse. The aliens make Tommys world interesting as they endeavor to learn about Earth and often make it their business to help their friend Tommy with the daily trials and tribulations of being a kid.
Guide Review of "Pet Alien"
The storyline behind Pet Alien is cute and original, as is the setting of the lighthouse hideaway and bay town where Tommy lives. The five aliens different personalities and characteristics interact in zany ways, and mundane events become adventures to these creatures that are unfamiliar with Earthly ways. Tommy just gets mixed up in all of their antics. Unfortunately, he would probably rather be watching TV or playing a video game, and the characters display some behavior parents might not want kids to imitate.
The show, geared toward 6-11 year old boys, employs the slap-stick humor kids that age love. The aliens often do things such as belch, and Tommy likes to mimic his mother when she has told him something he doesnt like. The comedy is not nearly as overboard as some in rudeness or bad imitative behavior, although many of Tommys schoolmates are generally snotty or mean. Also, parents may not appreciate the TV-loving example that Tommy sets.
