Shrek: (voiced by Mike Myers) A big green ogre from the swamp, Shrek has his own definition of manners. He is not afraid to burp out loud or say exactly what he thinks, but his blunt honesty, unpretentious nature, and good heart won the love of the Princess Fiona (who is also an ogre due to a curse from long ago). In Shrek the Third, Shrek has the responsibility of the kingdom thrust upon him, and he will do anything to pass it along to someone else.
Fiona: (voiced by Cameron Diaz) Fiona is a true princess and the daughter of King Harold, froggie ruler of Far Far Away. Long ago, she was cursed to stay in a guarded tower until her Prince came to rescue her. When she experienced "love's first kiss," the curse said that she would then take "love's true form." She kissed Shrek and permanently became an ogre. Fiona is as sweet as any maiden can be, but she can hold her own - even in a burping contest. In Shrek the Third, Fiona will have to band together with other princesses in order to save Far Far Away.
Donkey: (voiced by Eddie Murphy)From the moment Donkey found Shrek, he has never let him Shrek go. At times, Shrek probably wishes he would go, but Donkey is a true friend and loyal to the end. He is also loud, obnoxious, intrusive, and jealous, but what's all that between best friends?
Puss in Boots: (voiced by Antonio Banderas) Puss in Boots, a suave cat with a Spanish accent, has a way with the ladies. He also has a way of manipulating a situation to his own benefit, which often drives a wedge between himself and Donkey. The two are always vying for Shrek's attention. Still, they would fight for each other to the end.
Shrek the Third:
When Shrek's froggie father-in-law King Harold croaks, Shrek is the only one left to wear the crown. Since the last thing he wants is royal responsibility, he sets off to find Fiona's long lost cousin Artie - the only other possible heir to the throne.
