By , About.com Guide

On Monday, January 2nd PBS Kids will debut a new show called “It’s a Big, Big World.” The show stars a diverse group of animal characters, and a giant sloth named Snook guides kids through an exciting rainforest world. The series is produced in “Shadowmation,” which combines puppetry, animatronics, and computer generated animation.

The program’s curriculum emphasizes science and geography at an age-appropriate level for preschoolers. According to PBS Kids, extensive supplemental material will also be provided to parents and teachers through various channels:

“In addition to the broadcast series, a national family and community outreach campaign will extend the educational lessons of the series, including customized activities and support materials designed for parents and children. As well, an immersive, state-of-the-art Web site on pbskids.org will supplement series goals and awareness.”
